Joey finds out Pacey is leaving for the summer. Yells at him. Tells him the same thing she told Dawson at the end of Anti-Prom -- she needs time, blah blah blah. He says now she'll have three more months of time. She says he's giving up on them. After the rehearsal dinner for the Leery's wedding, Joey tells Dawson that part of the reason that she ended things with Pacey was because she was afraid of losing him and his friendship. If she thought there was a chance he could ever forgive her, she might have chosen differently. Joey sees the wall, where Pacey painted "ASK ME TO STAY". He says that he isn't ready to give up on them yet, but he needs to know that she isn't, either. Pacey shows up at the wedding. Joey tells him she can't ask him to stay (in Capeside, not at the wedding). He says he guesses that means she made her choice, she says she guesses she has. He says she should have done it sooner, would have saved them all a lot of heartache. Before he leaves there's a brief convo with Dawson, where Pacey says, "She made her choice. You're it." Dawson gives the toast at the wedding. His theme is love, and forgiveness. That his parents were in love, then it ended, then they found each other again. "That's what love really means. That you can always forgive. No matter what." Later, Joey asks him if he meant it. He tells her he did, and that's why she has to go to Pacey. She argues with him, he tells her that it's so obvious, she has to go. You saw the clip from the commercial... "All that matters now is what you want." She says she doesn't know what she wants, he tells her he knows -- it's Pacey. "You want him like I want you. You love him like I love you. The difference is, he loves you back the same way." He says he won't be the person to keep her from having that. Joey goes looking for Pacey, finds Doug who tells her he already left. She gets to the dock, he's still there, about to cast off. She tells him that she thinks she's in love with him, then she tells him that she knows she is. She tells him she wants to go with him, which pretty much shocks him, and they sail off into the sunset....
